“Bin the Butt” campaign launches

This week Liverpool City Council and LSSL joined forces with environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy to launch the #BintheButt campaign, to stamp out cigarette litter which causes significant damage to marine life in the River Mersey.

The campaign was launched on 1st November 2022 by Cllr Liam Robinson, asking smokers in the city to rethink how they dispose of their cigarette butts. Research has revealed that only half of people (53%) know that cigarette butts can get washed into the sea if they are dropped down the drain.
