Damaged Eleanor Rigby statue taken away for repairs

The famous statue of Beatles character Eleanor Rigby has been taken away from her Stanley Street home and is currently being assessed for repairs. The bench that Eleanor sits on was damaged in an accident earlier this month.

The statue was designed by Tommy Steele, who offered to create the tribute after performing in Liverpool in 1981. The statue was put up in 1982 and sits on Stanley Street in the city centre.

Our staff assisted the Council in removing the statue to undergo the necessary improvements and refurbishments following an assessment of its current state. Updates to follow as to when Eleanor will return to her famous spot!
