Bulky Waste contract awarded!

LSSL was awarded a temporary Bulky Waste contract last November, and since then our Bulky Waste team has implemented significant operational improvements. These include reducing customers’ wait times from an average of four to five weeks to seven to ten days, and instigating a new practice which sees collection crews visiting the next working day when the crew are unable to gain access to item(s).
The Council and LSSL have worked to triage service requests, primarily through the Council’s website to reduce historical demand on the service. The new process has also involved redirecting residents who want their items to be re-used to local charities and re-use organisations.
This approach is designed to have a positive impact on tackling fly-tipping and street litter, a key aim for the Council which spends £9m a year on removing waste and cleaning the city’s streets.
Liverpool residents can request up to five bulky items per individual property, up to five small electrical items and up to five bags of textiles – clothes, belts, shoes, handbags – per collection.
